Stephanie Ortynsky

In Stephanie’s classes you will be guided to strengthen, relax, and have fun. She often begins with a few moments in meditation or with a breathing exercise to centre oneself before the asana portion of class. She enjoys teaching a variety of styles as she believes the best way to achieve well-being is with a combination of the vigor required for a flow (vinyasa) or hatha (Bikram-style) practice with the relaxation of yin or restorative styles of yoga. Stephanie frequently includes a relaxing body scan from her yoga-nidra training at the end of practice to help students be fully refreshed at the end of their class.

She began practicing yoga in 2007 at university and in 2014 she completed the 200-hour training with Dallas Kruszelnicki at Hot Yoga on 20th. In 2017, she went to Berlin and Paris for 500-hour training with Evolation Yoga in Vinyasa flow and hot Hatha styles.

In 2018, she completed Namaskar yin yoga training in Saskatoon. Stephanie has also completed Levels 1 and 2 of Jikiden Reiki and has completed level one Yoga-Nidra training with Brenda Feuerstein. She did restorative yoga training in Saskatoon at Ground Yoga with Lynette Suchar in 2019.

She has also done One Yoga's 100-hour level two training with Ryan Leir and a weekend intensive with Nicki Doane in Victoria. She has begun deepening her meditation practice by taking a Mindful Intensive with Carolyn Budgell and recently attended Emily Fletcher's live Ziva meditation training in New York City. She has almost completed pre-natal yoga training with Inner Peace and a Pilates mat training with Chrissy Kuny, both from Saskatoon.

Movement with others has been way of being for most of Stephanie’s life. Her teaching style draws on an array of disciplines. While growing up, she trained and competed in ballet, jazz, and tap. She has successfully obtained numerous certificates in Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and A.D.A.P.T. exams. During her first two years of university, she danced with the Yevshan Ukrainian Folk Ballet Ensemble in Saskatoon before competing with the U of S Huskies cross country team in 2007 and 2008.

Stephanie is currently living in her hometown of Yorkton, SK. She is a Research Associate and public sector financial management Instructor at the University of Regina. At the University of Saskatchewan, she has nearly completed her PhD in public policy on budgeting for education and wellbeing.
